APW - Waltham, Am'n Watch Co, 16J, Model 1872, 16S, heavy 14K rose gold drum style original Jeannot & Shiebler HC with marking inside rear for retailer Steinicke & Hammer of Brooklyn, front and rear with elaborate monogram initials, gold cuvette, originally with glazed observation cover over mvt which is no longer present, bow with chain guards, white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, nickel damascene, s#2788300. Gross weight of assembled watch 77.0 dwt (119.8 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous plates with few micro-fine scratches, rust to plate screw near s#, winding wheels and regulator assembly with some areas of oxide with the most notable being to the central hub of the larger winding wheel; nearly flawless dial with very small fine adjacent right side of seconds-register center hole, tiny flake to right rim of center hole; excellent hands; case shows very light wear, some dings to front and rear that are more evident to inner surface of lids, shallow dent to right shoulder of rear, good engraving detail; tight bow is of a more yellow gold tone with rose gold chain guards, bow is tilted a bit out of parallel with case band and chain guards are seated slightly out of level with one another, crown shows ample wear with ridge break; good glass crystal.
